Who we are
The Enrique E. Cofiner Foundation is a private cultural foundation based in Barcelona, covered by Spain’s patronage law (Law 49/2002). Its purpose is precise: to preserve, publish, record and bring back to the concert hall the music of Enrique Escudé-Cofiner (1909–1996) — son of the Raval, organist, bandleader in Cairo and Beirut, author of songs sung by Manolo Escobar, Sara Montiel and Dalida, and of piano and orchestral music that remained almost entirely in manuscript.
We have no staff and no premises open to the public: each project is entrusted to the musicians, musicologists, publishers and studios best placed to carry it out, and practically everything we raise becomes scores, recordings and concerts.
We research
We locate, transcribe and edit the works left in manuscript — the Estampas gitanas, the sardana Juliol, the Gypsy Concert written with Sabicas — and publish them with Boileau and JSM so that any performer can play them.
We record
We produce albums with today’s musicians, who reread Cofiner in their own language: Carles Marigó at the piano, the Camahort–Øien guitar duo, Diego Amador from flamenco. Suite Flamenca won two Spanish Music Academy Awards in 2026.
We teach
We take this music to young players: guitar arrangements written for conservatoires, set pieces in competitions, and recording prizes such as the Premio Cofiner at the José Luis Lopategui Guitar Competition.
